“Hoteliers in Latin-America are seeing the rise of two important trends: disintermediation, meaning that a hotelier who some years ago depended solely on tour operators, now depends, mainly, on online travel agencies such as Booking, Expedia and Despegar. And consolidation, as more and more independent hoteliers are associating with other hotels, forming associations or small chains, aiming for better efficiency in their brands and sales.
They must promote direct sales, firstly to reinforce their brand, secondly to reduce costs and thirdly to have more direct contact with their clients.
